Immortal

SNJV

Immortal is the story of the divine within—the soul that is decorated in what this world has given us. All of us have the potential to express the breath of the deities we so often think live outside of us but seldom realize the glory in our reflection. The Queer aesthetic in Immortal is defined through ethnic fashion, intonation, and a ferocious display of talent. This sensory experience is Queer because it is born in the space of darkness—within the closet that Queer people are put into by the walls of a binary society. Immortal shows that there is a possibility of salvation from the norm through a simple pilgrimage within. Immortal is a story told through a Queer cultural lens and puts it in the drag blender to exaggerate and highlight all we seek to conceal. It calls upon South Asian mythology and modern-day popular culture through music and fashion and an inclusive display of talent. Each dancer showcased in Immortal represents a range of identities and bodies not often shown in the dance world. Immortal is a guttural melody from the depths of the Queer soul for all to experience our story. Immortal is what we are.
